by Paul Winter Introduction (Table of Contents below) This web page documents the increase in severe weather throughout our entire solar system and relates it to the obvious cause, increased solar activity. The increase in severe weather suddenly appeared in 2002, too suddendly to be caused by greenhouse gasses which have been slowly building for generations. The severe weather arrived right after the sun, for the first time since we have observed it, failed to completely flip its magnetic field (see the Updates section for links to articles).
What No Flip? Impossible The sun's magnetic field flips every 11 years and causes the solar cycle of max and min numbers of sun spots. Monthly numbers of sun spots have been recorded for over a hundred years (see graph below). The sun's failure to flip its magnetic field should have been the biggest news story of the century, but it was buried, probably because NASA didn't have a nice explanation that wouldn't create panic.
