The winter solstice (Dec. 21^st) in the year 2012 has been a very mysterious date for quite some time. Many people have speculated about its true meaning. All sorts of speculation from the end of the world as we know it to the precise time the Aliens will return here to Earth. The winter solstice in the year 2012 was discovered on the incredible Mayan calendar and has been a mystery as to why this date was so significant to their culture. The Mayan civilization mysteriously disappeared long before the first Spaniards came to Central America. The amazing Mayan calendar was based on their precise observations of the stars and how they appeared to move over time including the brightest light source in the night sky, the planet Venus. These observations made their calendar much more precise than the calendar we use today that is based on one complete revolution of the Earth around the Sun or 365.24 days.
