I was at download festival over the weekend and I was totally blown away by some bands. Took us about 5 hours to get there on coach, but when we got there one of my friends came by car and we spend an hour trying to find him in the car park. It was so bloody hot and no wind, felt like being in a desert all day, was like this all weekend! By the time we got into the queue to get in it was packed, took us about an hour to get in, then took us about two hours to wonder round the camping sites while trying to find a space, amongst 80 odd thousand people, carrying our luggage around while searching wasn’t very pleasant, specially the weather being baking hot. We had to stop loads of times because of the weight and waiting for my friend’s girlfriend to get off the floor and keep moving. We finally got a space, and thankfully this campsite was quieter than the others.

First bands we watched on the main stage were pretty good. we went to quickly watch DREDG on the smaller stage as I love the band, my mates not familiar with them. As we watched, they were bloody amazing! They totally blew us away with their performance. When their time was up on stage, they kept on playing beautifully anyway, the people came on stage and took their instruments one by one, as they did this the band continued playing with what they had left, and we realised the drummer had been playing drums and keyboard at the same time, and now he was left with one drum, bass and keyboard while the guitarist did a solo. The drummer ended up with just the keyboard and he played this amazing tune then trashed the keyboard.

I watched a few of my favourite bands that day and I got in the front for Deftones because TOOL (My favourite band) where headlining and I wanted to be at the front. When tool came on, I was so excited and hyped up I couldn’t wait, and as soon as they came on the crowd went wild! They started playing their songs and put on an awesome show with amazing visuals on the screens, I was so blown away by them it was the best thing I have experienced in my life. I had been waiting to see them for 6 years.

Next day while we went to the small stage to see what was going on, we were watching this band unaware of who was playing. We were basically at the front watching them, some guy walked out on the stage and put his hand up in the air and everyone went wild, me and my mate looked at each other and didn’t know who it was, we soon realised it was will smith the actor, and the band playing was the band his wife sings in, his wife being Niobi from the matrix films. We were well shocked when we realised we just seen them both. Watched Metallica headlining that night which blew me away again, damn they were awesome, they played the whole master of puppets album because it was the 20th anniversary of when it was released.

The third day we saw one of our favourite bands “In Flames” and they were bloody amazing, I went nuts watching them, later on we lined up to get their signatures. We finally got through and I told them they had nice tattoos and told them they fucking rock! I went to watch Christina Scabbia on stage (Lead singer of Lacuna Coil). Damn she is the sexiest woman on earth! So I had to go see her live.

The nights there were crazy! There were fields of camp sites miles long and you could hear everyone shouting from everywhere, sounded like a war zone! Sunday night was the craziest, as soon as we got to the tent we looked at each other and realised we weren’t going to be sleeping much that night. Everyone where setting the bins a light and you could hear in each field the gas canisters blowing up and flying in the air, people were lighting up huge bonfires and trying to shake all the lamp posts out of the ground, people were going nuts and rioting against the police. We did manage to get to sleep though but in the morning we were woke up with thunder and lightening and we got pretty much soaked. We were very dirty and smelly by the end, glad to get back on the coach and go back home for a bath!
